Grade Three Newsletter: Nov.8

October began with a surprise creatures visit from Mrs. McKinnon and Mrs. Faltinsky. Grade Three became a mini zoo of a live ferret, hissing cockroaches, a chicken and a baby Hedgehog named Chip. We had a chance to hold skins shed from a snake. A baby turtle’s shell, a coyote’s skull, braided buffalo hair, a deer’s leg, rabbit hair, a rattlesnake’s rattle and an empty ostrich and bird egg. Koko was a little worried to see a polar bear claw. We had an awesome time learning about t many different and unusual creatures. Remember, we are God’s caretakers of the earth’s living things.

The Guardian Angels came to visit us this month. We learned that the Guardian Angels have groups trained in many communities. Guardian Angels can be all different ages. They help watch for crimes in the neighborhood . They have won National Awards for their contributions.

Our class joined with the school in trying to raise money for the American Heart Association. We got people to sponsor us and donate money. In Gym, we jumped our hearts out. We had a fantastic time and we were proud to part of the school serving people with heart problems.

For Columbus Day, the third grade had five special students who showed their pride in Sacred Heart by marching in the city’s parade. Congratulations to them for taking time to make us proud!

We were very sad to hear our favorite secretary was injured and in the hospital. We pray for Mrs. Orgera every day and tried to cheer her up by making cards for her. We miss her and hope she’s back soon!

Our Halloween celebration began with a spectacular parade for our families, the older Grade School students and the High School too. We loved those pumpkins dressed up in the High School Office! The classroom party was a blast with the cool games Miss Francine made for us with prizes and all. We had enough treats to feed the Army and Navy! Thanks parents for your generous donations.

Congratulations to the Diaz’s  and to our newest Sacred Heart family member – Karina Diaz born on November 3!

Best of all, we are so excited and proud waiting to be enrolled for our First Eucharist next Sunday. Hope you can join us on our special day!
