The Fourth and Fifth Grade students participated in the
2008 National Student/ Parent Mock
Election. Before voting, our teacher
stressed the need for us to be informed
and educated voters. Some of the fourth
graders looked up information about the
Presidential candidates and the
candidates that were running in District
18 for the House of Representatives,
while the rest of the class found
information about some past presidents.
Then the Fourth grade students presented
their reports in front of the Fifth
graders. This way both classes were
educated on the Candidates Ballot and
the Past Presidents Ballot. We also had
to discuss the topics that were on the
Issue Ballot. On October 27, 2008 both
the Fourth and Fifth Grade student cast
their ballots. Two computers were set up
in the Fifth Grade for the students to
vote. Everyone was excited to cast their
votes. The voting results will be
compared to that of other schools that
participated in the national
student/Parent Mock election.
The Fifth Grade would like to thank Mrs.
Garcia and Mrs. Malone for putting
together that wonderful Halloween Party.
The treats, games and prizes were great.
We would also like to thank Mrs. Flynn
for sending in those delicious cupcakes.
A great time was had by all of us. We
are reading the book The Best (Worst)
Halloween Ever by Barbara Robinson. It
is a great book about Halloween and a
family of six kids, the Herdman, that
wreck havoc on a town every year. The
Fifth Grade is also thankful for the
fact that we do not have any of those
Herdman children in our class because
our wonderful party might have turn out
much differently if we did.

D.A.R.E.
Graduation was on June 16,
2008. We all worked very hard on our
skits and song. The essay winner this
year was Nicholas Hold. We had
two poster winners, Jennifer Recine
and Malvika Singh.
