October was a very busy
month in Kindergarten. Of course, we
were all very excited about Halloween.
Mrs. Riley brought in a big pumpkin.
She cut off the top and we scooped out
the pulp. Everyone got some of the pulp
and we were surprised to find seeds when
we pulled the pulp apart. We dried our
seeds and we will plant them in the
spring. Hopefully some of the seeds
will grow into pumpkin plants. Did you
know that a pumpkin starts as a flower
on a vine? At the end of the day, Mrs.
Riley carved a face on the pumpkin and
raffled it off. Karen was the lucky
winner of our Jack-O-Lantern!
We are beginning to
decode words in reading. So far, we are
able to read the “at” family (bat, cat,
etc.) and the “an” family (Nan, Dan,
fan, etc.). Our word wall is growing
every day! We made haunted houses and
wrote a class story about the ghosts who
live inside.
We are busy thanking God
for all of His gifts in Religion. We
made beautiful papier mache mobiles of
the sun, moon and stars. You can see
some of them hanging in the hallway
outside of our classroom. This month,
we especially thanked God for the gift
of light.
In math we are graphing,
sorting by different attributes and
working with all kinds of patterns. We
are also making sets of different
numbers of items and practicing writing
our numbers to 6.
Congratulations to Sierra
and Mr. and Mrs. Rosado on the birth of
their new baby girl! We can’t wait to
meet little Maya!
We hope that everyone
enjoyed a safe and happy Halloween.
Thanksgiving is next and we have so much
to thank God for!
We have all been given
our parts for the Christmas Pageant and
we are going to start practicing each
day. We hope that everyone will be able
to see us on December 23rd
after Mass.
